Energy efficiency evaluation for compliance with the mandatory EU requirements and the voluntary ECOLABEL and ENERGY STAR® labeling requirements.
The energy efficiency of electrical and electronic products is a differentiating element in the purchasing decisions of many consumers and is the subject of a growing amount of national and international regulation.
In the EU, the energy labeling directive 2010/30/UE and the ecodesign directive 2009/125/EC and their regulations establish the evaluation requirements for these products according to their energy efficiency. The manufacturer must perform the appropriate tests and add a label that identifies the product's energy classification (A++ to G) and its consumption and noise characteristics.
In the United States, the ENERGY STAR marking sets the minimum energy efficiency requirements to market the product in the U.S.
Additionally, many governments have promoted eco-labeling or energy efficiency mechanisms to differentiate those products that are more environmentally friendly. (EU Ecolabel)
Applus+ Laboratories performs energy efficiency tests to evaluate and classify products according to different regulations and labeling schemes applicable in the European Union and the United States:
Each regulation establishes a test plan based on the product to evaluate. Our experts can provide technical solutions to improve and/or reduce the energy efficiency of your products.
The ecodesign and energy labeling directives also require manufacturers measure the noise levels for each product and print them on the label. With Applus+ Laboratories, manufactures will also be able to perform the acoustic tests required for these directives.
Applus+ has laboratories specialized in electricity and electronics, is a Notified Body for more than 15 European directives, and is your technological partner in achieving the CE marking for your product.
