Aerospace industry

Dedicated to helping customers develop new technologies to improve product performance, Aplus+ Rescoll has become a trusted partner for the aerospace industry. Its testing and characterization service offer is backed up by NADCAP and ISO 17025 recognised standards.

Testing for aerostuctures

From raw materials, manufacturing and operations, Applus+ Rescoll participates throughout the whole chain of control and qualification of materials in the aerospace industry.

These are some analysis tests that can be carried out according to operating testing procedures. This includes:

  • Specimen manufacturing & machining: This includes prepreg layup for incoming tests, autoclave curing, and specimen machining of parts, panels and bonded assemblies.
  • Thermo-mechanical analysis: Uncured prepreg control, Gel time and viscosity. Determination of resin and fiber content. Curing control by DMA or DSC.
  • Mechanical testing: Both static and fatigue tests. This also includes specimen preparation and instrumentation and testing performed in accordance with AITM, ASTM, ISO and EN standards.
  • Environmental test: Fire testing is conducted to check the flammability, heat release, smoke density and toxicity and oil burner. All of these environmental tests are conducted according to EASA, AIRBUS, FAA, and Boeing requirements.

Testing for interior cabins

Applus+ Rescoll provides interior aircraft cabin certification and testing support, throughout all development stages. Positioned as one of the main laboratories for “interior cabin” testing in Europe, it has received approval from clients such as Airbus, Dassault, and Gulfstream and also counts with NADCAP accreditation.

Aimed at helping clients reduce both costs and time-to-market, its extensive service offer includes:

  • Fire and smoke testing: Fire tests are conducted to check flammability, heat release, smoke density & toxicity and oil burner.
  • Mechanical testing: Mechanical tests are conducted to check static and fatigue tests on specimens, including preparation and instrumentation.
  • Structural and endurance testing: Structural and endurance tests are carried out for static mechanical testing, pitch & roll testing and endurance dynamic testing.
  • Environmental testing: in order to measure temperature and humidity ageing environmental tests are carried out, including altitude tests; fluids susceptibility; vibration, operational and crash safety.

Medical devices and biomaterials

Biocompatibility tests

Its medical device biocompatibility assessments aid manufacturers throughout their validation process and include:

  • In vitro and in vivo studies according to ISO 10993-5, ISO 10993-10 and ISO 10993-11 standards.

Packaging and transport validation

Major test methods can be implemented according to the NF EN ISO 11607-1 standard to assess the performance of sterile packaging, these include:

  • Manual peeling and seal strength tests according to EN 868-5.

Rescoll Manufacturing is a CMO specialised in high-precision machining of technical parts and plastic injection in prototyping and mass production with an all-inclusive offer for the medical sector, this includes:

  • Manufacturing: Equipped with swiss turning, milling and multi-axis CNC Milling machines. This generates a capacity of producing up to 100,000 products/year in different materials (PEEK, POM, Ti, Cobalt, etc.) in a perfectly controlled ISO 13485 environment.
  • Finishing and assembling: After dimensional control, complex implants can be assembled in house.
  • Cleaning and packaging: Rescoll Manufacturing can take charge of the laser marking, cleaning and packaging thanks to its clean room (ISO 7) facilities.

Bondings and adhesives

Based on INDAR INSIDE® technology, the solutions developed by Applus+ Rescoll allow the integration of environmental criteria in product design for bonded assemblies. Available as adhesives and primers, they can be thermally triggered on-demand to allow an easy and clean disassembly, thus facilitating the sorting and recycling  of bonded assemblies, or the recovery of parts for the second-hand market.
