Applus+ Gometrics, a company that has been part of Applus+ Laboratories since 2025, is strengthening its metrology services offering with the launch of a new wind tunnel. This infrastructure enables it to meet the precision, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements for air velocity measurement in industries such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, and energy.
This equipment, designed entirely by the Applus+ Gometrics engineering team, positions Applus+ Laboratories as a benchmark in the calibration of anemometers and air measurement systems, in accordance with national and international standards.
The new facility allows for precise calibrations to be performed on a wide range of instruments, ensuring optimized expanded uncertainty (≤ 2%, k=2). Among the equipment we can already manage are:
Currently, the service covers a speed range from 1 m/s to 30 m/s, and from April 2026, it will allow measurements from 0.01 m/s. This improvement will be key for sectors that operate with critical laminar flows, such as clean rooms and biosafety laboratories (complying with regulations such as ISO 14644 or Annex 1 of the GMP).
The addition of this new wind tunnel not only expands Applus+ Laboratories' portfolio of industrial calibration services, but also consolidates our ability to support sectors where technical precision is essential.
This infrastructure is key for the automotive industry, in aerodynamic testing and climate tunnel validation; the pharmaceutical sector, for the verification of air systems in classified areas; and the energy sector, in the calibration of equipment used to characterize wind turbines and wind resources.
This technology also strengthens the control of air quality monitoring networks in environmental laboratories and allows official bodies to calibrate their essential reference equipment for environmental monitoring.
With this step, Applus+ Laboratories reaffirms its commitment to metrological innovation, consolidating its position as the trusted technology partner for global industry.
