New certification mark strengthens product differentiation, quality assurance and market confidence for grid-connected equipment manufacturers.
Applus+ Laboratories announces the launch of its new certification service for energy and power equipment, a dedicated certification program for manufacturers of grid-connected generation units, power conversion equipment, energy storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and other electrical energy technologies.
Delivered under Applus+ Laboratories' ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation, the new service has been developed to help manufacturers demonstrate product quality, compliance, and reliability in increasingly demanding global energy markets. Beyond meeting technical requirements, certification provides an independent quality endorsement that can become a valuable differentiator in public tenders and procurement processes led by utilities, energy operators, infrastructure developers and large industrial buyers.
As part of the program, Applus+ Laboratories is also introducing the new Applus+ Energy & Power Equipment Certification Mark, providing manufacturers with an additional tool to demonstrate ongoing compliance and manufacturing consistency through independent third-party assessment.
Manufacturers of power equipment increasingly need to demonstrate compliance with a wide range of regulatory and technical requirements before gaining access to target markets. These requirements often extend beyond traditional product safety certification to include grid compliance obligations, performance criteria, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radio requirements, where applicable.
The new energy and power equipment certification service has been specifically designed to bring these requirements together under a single certification framework, simplifying compliance management and providing customers with a clearer demonstration of product conformity.
The program offers manufacturers two alternative certification paths.
The first route is a Type Certification, resulting in the issuance of an Applus+ Certificate confirming compliance of the evaluated type equipment with the applicable requirements.
This route provides independent verification of the product against the relevant technical, regulatory and grid codes compliance requirements for its intended markets.
The second route is a Full Certification, which incorporates periodic production control assessments in addition to product certification.
Manufacturers choosing this route are authorized to use the Applus+ Energy & Power Equipment Certification Mark, demonstrating not only the compliance of the certified product but also the ongoing consistency of the manufacturing process through regular factory audits.
The certification program is designed to deliver value beyond regulatory compliance.
For manufacturers participating in public tenders or large private-sector procurement projects, independent certification can provide a recognized quality differentiator during supplier evaluation processes. At the same time, the endorsement of an accredited certification body offers additional confidence to purchasers, investors, utilities, and project developers by providing evidence that the product has been independently assessed against recognized requirements.
Particularly under the Full Certification route, the combination of product assessment and ongoing manufacturing surveillance reinforces confidence in the long-term consistency and reliability of certified products.
