Technical Seminar – CE Marking of metallic structures and joints

08/05/2015

Standards EN 1090, EN 14399 and EN 15048.

    • Start date: 08/05/2015
    • End date: 01/06/2015
    • City: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
    • Country: Spain

In June 2014 the transitional period to adapt to the EN 1090 standard ended. Since then, all companies, workshops and professionals that manufacture steel and aluminium structural components must certify their manufacturing control system.

Applus+ Laboratories is one of the few Spanish entities notified to perform the CE marking of metallic structures under EN 1090. So far, more than 60 Spanish companies have trusted Applus+, most of them in the steel structures sector. Prominent companies such as Brausa, Cualimetal, Ucin, Eucomsa and Horfasa, have successfully passed the certification process, which includes several key aspects for the company.

Particularly noteworthy is the need to implement a production control system in the workshop, detailing how manufacturing processes such as cutting and welding are carried out.  In addition, the company will need to carry out tests, manage the documentation of its raw materials, define its tolerances well and have the required qualifications for both welders and welding processes.

The fragmentation of the market and the small size of many garages means that many companies have yet to start the certification process.

With the aim of helping steel and aluminium structure companies and workshops to comply with EN 1090, Applus+ will be holding a technical seminar at its facilities on 8 May.

Organised by: Applus+ Laboratories, Applus+ Certification and FATOR.

Where: Applus+ | UAB Campus. Ronda de la Fonteta s/n.
