Applus+ recognized as Visa Ready Program Security Laboratory for Cloud Based Payment (HCE)

Applus+ Laboratories reinforces its position as security evaluation laboratory for mobile payment solutions with a new Visa recognition.
Applus+ has been approved as an independent security laboratory to evaluate payment application compliance with the Visa Ready Program for Cloud Based Payment. Applus+ IT laboratories in Barcelona and Shanghai can now conduct security evaluations on Visa mobile applications for HCE-enabled devices.
The adoption of Host Card Emulation (HCE) in mobile devices with Android OS (version 4.4 KitKat and higher) & Blackberry has led to the development of new Cloud based payment solutions where security is no longer provided by a Secure Element. With HCE, the mobile payment application resides in the host processor while security measures are provided via servers in the cloud and tokenization. Solution providers and issuers can now launch their own cloud base solutions in a far less complex environment (where agreements with MNO and OEM may not be necessary).
Visa issuers launching a cloud-based payment application must follow Visa functional and security requirements. Security compliance must be assessed in a Visa approved laboratory..
Applus+ Laboratories is one of the few laboratories approved by Visa to conduct security evaluation of cloud based solutions and has the required test tools to perform functional test.
