Applus+ Laboratories invests in a new reverberation chamber at its UK lab

15/02/2021

The new facility will enable our customers to test radiated immunity using the reverberation method according to the latest industry specs, including PSA B21 7110 (EQ/IR 06)

Applus+ Laboratories, a European leader in automotive EMC testing, has widened its testing capabilities by investing in a new reverberation chamber at its UK lab (Applus+ 3C Test). Several industries use reverberation methods as alternatives to conducting electromagnetic immunity tests on electrical and electronic components.

Reverberation chambers have several advantages over the traditional semi-anechoic chambers when it comes to EMC testing. Firstly, in the reverb chamber the equipment under test is completely exposed to RF interference, so there are no antenna beam width issues. On top of that, the chamber can achieve higher immunity test levels with the same amount of power.

Our new capabilities will ensure our clients can test all the EMC requirements with Applus+, independently of the preferred method for each OEM.

The chamber will meet the requirements of Automotive, Military and Aerospace specifications with defined reverberation methods, such as:

    • PSA B21 7110 (EQ/IR 06)
    • FMC 1278 (RI 114)
    • GMW3097 (3.4.3)
    • DEF STAN 59-411 (DRS02.B)
    • MIL-STD-461 (RS103)
    • RTCA/DO-160 (Section 20.6)
    • IEC/EN 61000-4-21
