Safety measures against fire are critical in buildings to reduce any potential risks for people and goods in case of fire. It is quite complex to understand the behavior of the combination of elements involved in a fire.

Construction Products Regulation 305/2011 covers a wide range of products requiring flammability or fire resistance testing. Manufacturers or their representatives are solely responsible for ensuring their product comply with the Regulation provisions. Identifying its product with the CE mark is a manufacturer's statement of compliance with harmonized standards and that the essential requirements of the Regulation have been met.

CE marking of fire protection products is regulated by the Attestation of Conformity (AoC) under systems 1 or 3, which requires the intervention of a Notified Body to perform a Factory Production Control audit and type testing

Solution

Applus+ is a Notified Body* for CE marking and we work with producers throughout the entire CE marking process of their products. CE marking for fire protection products is based on AoC system 1 or 3 and standardized regulations:

CE marking defines a number of tasks to be fulfilled by the manufacturer and others by the notified body:

Manufacturer responsibilities:

  • Implementation of Factory Production Control (FPC)
  • Draw up a program of follow-up testing, specifying types, frequencies, etc.

Responsibilities of the notified body, as applicable:

  • Type Testing (mandatory in systems 1 and 3)
  • Initial Factory Production Control (FPC) inspection
  • Continuous survillance, assessment and approval of Factory Production Control (FPC)

CE Marking documents:

  • Test Report (NB)
  • Certificate of Constancy of Performance (NB in System 1)
  • Declaration of Performance (Manufacturer)
  • Labeling and CE marking (Manufacturer)

Applus+ has performed controls on construction products for over 100 years and has completed thousands of tests and product certifications.
