Applus+ appointed Notified Body for new Radio Equipment Directive

29/09/2016
The new Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED), which came into force in June 2016, regulates radio-equipment access to the EU market.
Applus+ Laboratories (LGAI Technological Center S.A.) has been appointed as a Notified Body for the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED). This new directive, which came into force on 13th June 2016, replaces the R&TTE Directive 1999/05/CE.
Thanks to this appointment, manufacturers of wireless devices can now turn to Applus+ to obtain a certificate of conformity assessment demonstrating that they conform to the key requirements of the RED directive.
Applus+ is Spain’s first certification body to receive accreditation to assess the conformity of wireless products according to modules B+C (EU type and conformity examination related to internal production controls) and module H (conformity assessment based on overall quality assurance), enabling manufacturers to include the Notified Body number in their equipment CE marking.
With its new Notified Body status, Applus+ broadens its portfolio of services aimed at wireless equipment, a rapidly expanding market owing to the incorporation of connectivity technologies (Wi-Fi, NFC, RFID, etc.) in a wide range of electrical and electronic products, with application in the Internet of Things (IoT) and M2M Communications arenas.
