Applus+ to present new automated continuous stringer manufacturing process at the Sampe Long Beach 2016 Conference

20/05/2016

The system is able to form straight or contoured stringers of different sections, with a single automated machine, from a full thickness ATL or AFP flat stack.

Applus+ will present its latest development in forming process technologies, A+ Glide Forming, at the Sampe Long Beach 2016 Conference (23-26 of May).
This new automated technology allows for manufacturing of wrinkle-free high quality stringers with complex contours and different sections, lengths and thicknesses from flat, full thickness pre-preg lay-ups.
Applus+ has been developing this innovative forming technology over the last 6 years. An automated demonstrator for parts of up to 54 ft is now available. A single machine can produce parts with diverse sections and contours by using different tools.  Continuous forming is used to form the part on a simple forming (or curing) tool at a speed of around 2ft/min.The system offers a versatile, high-rate productivity and cost-efficient alternative to current technologies.
The conference will take place on Thursday 26th of May at 10:00 AM (101A) at the Sampe Long Beach Convention Center. Click to see a preview of our presentation or contact us to get more information about the A+ Glide Forming Technology.
