2.4605 (DIN 17744 : 2002-09) 2.4605 DIN 17744 : 2002-09DIN 17744 : 2002-09 replaced by DIN 17744 : 2020-12ReplacedGermanyNiCr23Mo16AlAccording to VdTÜV-Wbl 505 : 2002-09, the material NiCr23Mo16Al with the material number 2.4605 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt editions W 2 and W 10 faithfully to their meaning, for temperatures from -196 to 450 degrees. Furthermore, the highly corrosion-resistant nickel-base alloy is used for ranges of applications in nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 196 to 450 °C. With observance of the generally acknowledged rules of the technology for welding, the material is fusion-weldable by using the metal arc welding and gas-shielded arc welding methods. Welding fillers that have been tested for suitability are to be used (sheathed stick electrode: EL-NiCr23Mo16, 2.4609 or welding rod, wire electrode SG-NiCr23Mo16, 2.4607, intermediate layer temperature 150 °C maximum). As a rule, a heat treatment after the welding is not necessary. The material can be plasma cut. The following is valid for the alloy NiCr23Mo16Al according to DIN 17744 : 2002-09 : the material is applied in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for corrosion-resistant construction components. The material possesses outstanding resistance to a multitude of corrosive mediums with oxidizing as well as with reducing conditions. The material shows excellent behaviour to mineral acids like nitric, phosphoric, sulphuric and hydrochloric acid, also if polluted, and it possesses high mechanical strengths. Application for manufacturing and processing plants in the organic chemistry, also if chlorides are present, especially with hot and polluted mineral and organic acids, as well as for the production of pharmaceutical intermediate products, for digesters and bleaching containers in the cellulose and paper industry. Furthermore, the material is applied for washing plants, reheaters, wet-running fans in flue-gas desulphurization and waste incineration plants as well as for reactors in the acetic acid production and for sulphuric acid coolers. Processing properties: Formability: good Weldability: good (Wbl: material specification Merkblatt: specification sheet)-196 - 450
