2.4600 (DIN 17744 : 2002-09) 2.4600 DIN 17744 : 2002-09DIN 17744 : 2002-09 replaced by DIN 17744 : 2020-12ReplacedGermanyNiMo29CrAccording to VdTÜV-Werkstoffblatt 517 : 2002-06, the material NiMo29Cr with the material number 2.4600 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt editions W 2 und W 10 faithfully to their meaning, for temperatures from -196 to 400 degrees. Furthermore, the highly corrosion-resistant nickel-base alloy is used for ranges of applications in nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 196 to 400 °C. With observance of the generally acknowledged rules of technology for welding, the material is well fusion-weldable by using the metal-arc method, the tungsten inert-gas method and the MIG-method (for welding rod and wire electrode type SG-NiMo30Cr [2.4695], for sheathed stick electrode EL-NiMo28Cr [2.4696]). As a rule, heat treatment after the welding is not necessary. NiMo29Cr is well cold- and hot-formable. The following is valid for the material according to DIN 17744 : 2002-09 : the alloy is used in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for corrosion-resistant construction components. In comparison to the material NiMo28 (2.4617), the alloy NiMo29Cr shows an improved resistance to stress cracking corrosion (raised contents of iron and chromium slow down the precipitation of phases that reduce the ductility and the resistance to stress cracking corrosion). The outstanding general corrosion properties as well as the intercrystalline corrosion properties of the material (see material description for NiMo28) remain untouched by the alloy additives. The material possesses good resistance to corrosion in reducing mediums like hydrochloric and sulphuric acid in a wide range of concentration and temperature, and it possesses an outstanding resistance to chloride-induced stress cracking corrosion. NiMo29Cr is well cold- and hot-formable as well as of good weldability. Similar to NiMo28, fields of application for the material are in the chemical industry, especially processes that sulphuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric and acetic acid occur in.
