3.7035 (DIN 17862 : 1993-02) 3.7035 DIN 17862 : 1993-02DIN 17862 : 1993-02 replaced by DIN 17862 : 2012-03ReplacedGermanyTi2Chemical composition: DIN 17850 Ti2 (soft annealed) with the material number 3.7035 (see also Ti2, 3.7034 according to the Werkstoff-Leistungsblatt der Deutschen Luftfahrt WL 3.7034) is used acc. VdTÜV-Wbl 230-1 : 2001-12 (sheet and strip) and VdTÜV-Wbl 230-2 : 1995-06 (seamless circular tubes) and VdTÜV-Wbl 230-3 : 2001-09 (rods, wire and forgings) for pressure vessels subject to TRB 100 and AD-Merkblatt W 0, part 3.4, from - 10 to 300 °C. Welding: Ti2 is weldable under use by argon (min 99.99%) with low humidity content for TIG-welding (with and without addition) and for MIG-welding. With the welding are to be protected the seam upper side as well as the root side with edge zones by suitable weld facilities against the admission of air also during the cooling under about 300 °C. Excessive hardening can occur through admission of pollutions and this can lead to an embrittlement of the weld seam. Hence, is to be paid attention to cleanness of the weld edges and edge zones as well as the addition especially. As addition a proofed blank wire of the same titanium group is to be used. A stress relieving annealing after the welding is only necessary for internal stress after the welding, possible caused by the material thickness or the constructive configuration. Corrosion resistance (acc. DIN 17850): Ti2 shows high resistance to general corrosion, especially to crevice and stress cracking corrosion, it is resistant to pitting to a large extent and has a low specific weight. The material is especially resistant to oxidizing mediums as well as to sea water and sea air. There exists resistance to nitric acid, chromic acid, sulphurous acid, alkali-lyes, ammonia, aqueous chlorides, moist chlorine gas, acetic acid, liquid hydrogen, limited resistance to sulphuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric, oxalic acid and formic acid. The material is not resistant to fluorine, dry chlorine gas and red fuming nitric acid. Processing properties: Formability: good (especially well cold-formable) Weldability: good (TIG, MIG, plasma, electron beam and resistance welding) Application: Fields of application are aircraft construction, chemical industry, petrochemistry, textile, man-made fibre and paper industry, food industry, pump and armature construction, sea water desalination plants and highly stressed components for the automobile sport. Applicable for operating temperatures of up to 300 °C.≤ 300
