| 1) Remark: The special alloy EN-MCMgRE3Zn2Zr, trade name ZRE 1 is produced as sand, chilled and precision casting. It is comparable to the aviation material G-MgZn2SE3Zr, mat. No. 3.6204, acc. to WL 3.6204-1 :1989-12. It is an alloy practically free of micro sinkholes for pressure-tight and complex castings. It shows favorable creep behaviour up to 250°C and a slight strength reduction down to this temperature. The material is TIG-weldable and excellent machinable (regulations of the professional association have to be considered), shows high damping power and no embrittlement tendency at low temperatures. High oxidation tendency of the melted magnesium and of the Mg-chipping requires special measures when melting, casting, trimming and welding. Magnesium and its alloys show the easiest machinability of all known construction metals. |
