1) Remark: The alloy AlZnMgCu1,5 achieves the highest mechanical strength of the Cu-alloyed AlZnMg alloys due to its composition. By hot ageing the strength grade F 55 is attainable. Cold ageing is uncommon. This alloy is good splinter-giving machinably and with consideration of certain conditions weldable. When welding a heat influence zone appears with smaller strength, therefore one should not welding if it is possible. A good corrosion resistance can be only guaranteed, if an appropriate protective surface layer is present. The corrosion resistance improves noticeably also by hot hardening. To exhaust the high mechanical properties fully, without the small corrosion resistance can become negatively apparent, sheet metals of this alloy e.g. with AlZn1 become roll-plates. Thus the area of application extends noticeably. Heat treatment for hardening: solution annealing: 470 to 480 °C, quenching in water hot ageing: 12 to 24 h at 115 to 125 °C, 4 to 6 h at 165 to 180 °C (hot ageing in two stages) Application: In mechanical engineering (including building of forms) for devices and tools. Predominantly as base, head and stamp clamp as well as guide plates. In the building of forms particularly in the plastics processing for blowing, foaming and die forms, bearing bodies for wood machining tools, for machine tables, turned parts (hydraulic/pneumatics), in the automobile engineering for bumper, safety-related parts. In the aircraft construction as joining elements (screws), in military technology and for the bending and form technology (as wire: springs, filters, hook etc.)
