Material Description

Material Number Material Name Material Number (single) Standard Scope Standard Status Country Predecessor VDA 231-106 classification
ZP0410 (DIN EN 12844 : 1999-01) ZP5 ZP0410 DIN EN 12844 : 1999-01 Supersedes DIN 1743-2 : 1978-04 Valid Germany GD-ZnAl4Cu1 3.3 1)
1) Remark: The material ZP5 with the material number ZP0410 is the preferred alloy for pressure castings. In its property profile, the alloy combines good mechanical properties with good resistance to corrosion, good dimensional accuracy und stability of accurate dimensions as well as with the possibility to galvanically deposit almost all metals on castings of this alloy. With observance of increased purity and of suitable processing circumstances, the material is applicable in extreme climatic conditions. The tensile strength depends on the wall thickness. With the wall thickness of the casting becoming smaller, the strength increases. The casting temperature ought to be about 425 degrees C (450 degrees C maximum) the forming temperature (pressure casting) is to be adjusted to about 180 to 250 degrees C maximum. According to DIN EN 12844, the alternating stress fatigue strength (time strength) is 56 N/mm² with 100 million reversals of stress the creep life (0.5 per cent, 3000 h) is 100 N/mm². The temperature coefficient of the length is 27 µm/m*K.
