Material Description

Material Number Material Name Standard Standard Status Country VDA 231-106 classification
Stellite alloy 25 Stellite 25 Kennametal Stellite Valid USA 4.2 1)
1) Remark: Stellite hard alloys are based on Cobalt and possess excellent properties against all varieties of wear, corrosion and erosion. In addition to a really great high temperature tensile strength, these properties remain with this type of alloy at high temperatures, too. Stellites distinguish themselves by a high hardness (HB: 370 to 480), which they keep even at red-heat. Therefore, they are not forgeable and have to be cast to shaped parts. Ranges of application are cutting tools, heat-stressed construction components, valves and valve seats in engines as well as turbochargers. The deposit welding is performed with a normal welding technique. The material Stellite 25 is comparable to the cobalt-base alloy CoCr20W15Ni with the material number 2.4964.
