Material Number Material Name Material Number (single) Standard Scope Standard Status Country VDA 231-106 classification
2.1170 (DIN 1716 : 1981-11) G-CuPb5Sn 2.1170 DIN 1716 : 1981-11 DIN 1716 : 1981-11 replaced by DIN EN 1982 : 1998-12 Replaced Germany 3.2 1)
1) Remark: CuPb5Sn (former G-SnPbBz5) is a construction material. It is characterised by a high corrosion resistance against sea water, diluted sulphuric and hydrochlorid acid as well as fatty acids. It has good sliding properties and a high wear resistance. It is used for anti-friction bearings, guide rails of tables or tools, bearings and acid resistant armatures. Admitted max. surface pressure p=6000 N/cm^2. Machining properties: very good Grindability: very good Soft soldering: good Hard soldering: restricted Gas fusion welding: restricted Gas-shielding welding: restricted WIG-welding: poor MIG-welding: poor Grindability (mech): good Galvanisability: good Immersing tin-plating: good
