1) Remark: Sort EN-GJS-800-8S-RT (mat. No EN-JS1109) is in its mechanical properties comparable to EN-GJS-800-8 (mat. No EN-JS1100). The material shows acc. to DIN EN 1564-97 a normative notch impact energy of 10 J at room temperature (Charpy test, avarage value of 3 tests). The material is a ferrous-carbon-based cast material that contains carbon predominantly in the form of spheroidal particles and that combines compared to the sort cast iron with nodular graphite (DIN EN 1563) higher strength and ductility properties by heat-treatment. Heat-treatment (austenite is usually transformed at a temperature between 250 and 400 °C in order to form a predominantly bainitic-ferritic basic structure) is an integral component of the production process. The material can be used for pressure equipment, e.g. compressor housings. The appropriate materials for pressure applications and the conditions of use are specified in special product standards or application standards. For the structuring of pressure equipment special construction guidelines applies.
