1) Remark: The material EN AW-AlCu6BiPb is used for centre punching, extruded and drawn components, wire and prewire for mechanical application. The alloy is not food-safe and used for forged parts and prematerial. To the comparable mark AlCuBiPb, material No. 3.1655, acc. to DIN 1725-1 applies: The material is an easy-machining alloy (drilling and turning quality). It is ideal for cutting (especially fine chips) due to the disk cutting alloy-elements Bi and Pb. This alloy is hot and cold-curable. Strength of 280 to 370 N/mm² can be achieved by appropriate heat-treatment. Heat-treatment for hardening: Solution annealing: 415° to 525°C, quenching in water up to 65°C Natural aging: 5 to 8 d at RT Artificial aging: 8 to 16 h at 165 to 185°C Machinability and strength are optimal in artificial aged condition, turned parts are workable at high cutting capacity with high dimensional accuracy and low surface finish. Because corrosion resistance is unsufficient under certain conditions is recommende a surface treatment in the case of corrosive attack. Anodizing for decorative purposes is impossible. Welding is conditionally possible, but application in welding construction is not advisable due to the heat-crack susceptibility and grave strength loss of this material. Application: in vehicle manufacturing for brake pistons, clutch parts in brake systems, turned parts for controlling aggregates, parts for pneumatic suspension, core material for elastic motor fastening, parts of fluid-gas tanks, speedometer parts, control slides for automatic clutches, gear axles. For control devices in general in machine engineering, axles for photocopying-machines, male connectors (TV), screw caps, turned parts of hammer drills, seismometer, bobbin for fishing line or spinnery machines, boxes and control slides for pneumatic and hydraulic plungers and lugs.
