Material Description

Material Number Material Name Standard Status VDA 231-106 classification
AgPd30 AgPd30 Valid 4.2 1)
1) Remark: AgPd30 is a silver alloy with tarnish resistance. This brand is a frequently used contact material. Silver-palladium powders are the most important precious metal powders for the production of conductive electrodes in ceramic multilayer capacitors. They are applied as composite powder blends, coprecipitates or solid solution with suitable binders to the green ceramic and sintered together and baked. Depending on the ceramics used (sintering range 1000 to 1400 °C., compositions of AgPd10, AgPd30 up to AgPd70 (= PdAg30) are used for increasing firing temperatures.) Especially for multilayer capacitors, silver-palladium powders of spherical grain form, high fineness and low specific surface area have been developed with which particularly thin and uniform electrode layers can be printed.
