1) Remark: The 22MnB5 is a cold-rolled boron-alloyed tempered steel which combines good hot and cold forming characteristics and high yield strength. It is suitable for highly complex components, offers excellent deep-draw properties, allows the production of light-weight components, is available with scale-resistant coating on request and can be processed by all standard welding methods. The material is not only used for supporting components in motor vehicles, but also for vital safety components such as lateral impact protection, door sills, and the A and B pillars. The so-called invasion protection elements, which form a vital barrier in lateral impact crashes between the outer shell and the passenger cabin, are made of this tempered steel. With appropriate scale-resistant coating, 22MnB5 is also used to produce elements such as the tunnel, floor members and frame bulkheads.
