2.4375 (DIN 17743 : 2002-09) | 2.4375 | DIN 17743 : 2002-09 | Supersedes DIN 17743 : 1983-02 | Valid | Germany | The hardenable material NiCu30Al with the material number 2.4375 is applied in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for corrosion-resistant construction components and knives. Owing to aluminium and titanium additives, this is a hardenable alloy that combines the excellent corrosion-resistance of NiCu30Fe (2.4360) with substantially higher mechanical properties. The high tensile strength remains at temperatures up to 650 °C. The material shows a low permeability and is non-magnetic. Furthermore, it is marked by excellent corrosion-resistance in a wide range of the maritime technology and the chemistry. It shows good fatigue strength as well as very good resistance to chloride-induced stress cracking corrosion. In principle, the corrosion-resistance is equal to that of NiCu30Fe. The material shows an excellent resistance to many mediums, from pure water to mineral acids, salts, alkalis. A good durability shows itself in fast sea water currents and in sea air, yet pitting can occur in hardly moving or in still sea water. NiCu30Al is applied in sea water, in the chemical and petrochemical industry and in the ship-building. Typical applications are valve coverings, pump bushes and wearing rings in sea water, pump columns for fire extinguishing pumps, propeller shafts, fastening elements like e.g. bolts in sea air and tide water, tow rope reinforcements, springs, oil boring shafts, non-magnetic boring bars, aeroplane instrument components. Processing properties: Formability: good Weldability: good (annealed condition) not common (hardened condition) | ≤ 650 |
