1) Remark: The basic type of the austenitic CrNi-steels X5CrNi18-10 shows high corrosion resistance but no resistance to intercrystalline corrosion in sensitized condition as well as favorable workability. The steel is suitable for mirror-polishing, is well cold formable, weldable and wear resistant. Application for welded parts in chemical apparatus engineering, food and milk industry, for household appliances, in breweries, in architecture and vehicle manufacturing as well as for pumps, compressors, instruments. Application also in water and low contaminated sewages. In pressure vessel construction up to 300 °C, above subject to authorization. The sort is acc. to DIN EN 10095 allowed to be used as a heat-resistant steel. Application temperature: -200 to 550 °C. In construction trade X5CrNi18-10 is applicated for decorative purposes in exterior and interior architecture, e.g. roof and wall elements, facings, washing plants, washbasins in toilets, for doors and windows. The material is approved for structural components (extended approval certificate Nr. Z-30.44.1 of Institut für Bautechnik Berlin, dated 01/02/89, containing demands for materials, calculation, construction and control). Strength grades E 225 and E 355 are common.
