1) Remark: The for pressure vessels approved material X5CrNi18-10, mat. no. 1.4301, is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion in the delivery condition up to 6 mm thickness or up to 40 mm diameter, in the welded condition the corrosion resistance is varying because of chemical composition and the welding conditions. Acc. DIN 17440 : 1996-09 it is used for flat products and rods and drawn wire and acc. DIN 17441 : 1997-02 for cold rolled strips and slit strips for pressure vessels. The limiting application temperature (operating time 100000 h, no intercrystalline corrosion) amounts to 300 degrees C. For the application acc. DIN 17440 : 1985-07 (X 5 CrNi 18 10) resp. acc. DIN EN 10088-1,-2,-3 : 1995-08 (X5CrNi18-10) applies: standard Cr-Ni grade with high corrosion resistance and good machinability, high polishable, very good cold formable. It is used for welded parts in the chemical apparatus engineering, the food and milk industry, household appliances, brewery, architecture, vehicle engineering, pumps, compressors, fittings. Also applicable in water and slightly polluted waste water. In the civil engineering the steel is applied for decorative purposes in the architecture, e.g. roof and wall elements, coverings, washing devices, wash stands, bath room accessories,doors and windows. The material is approved for structural parts.
