1) Remark: According to VdTÜV-Wbl 424 : 2002-09, the material NiMo16Cr16Ti with the material number 2.4610 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt editions W 2 and W 10 faithfully to their meaning, for temperatures from -196 to 400 °C. Furthermore, the highly corrosion-resistant nickel-base alloy is used for ranges of applications in nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 196 to 400 °C. With observance of the generally acknowledged rules of technology, the suitability for welding of this material is approved for metal arc welding with sheathed stick electrodes and for gas-shielded arc welding with welding wires and welding rods or with [flux-cored] filler wire electrodes up to a thickness of 90 mm (welding fillers 2.4612 and 2.4657 for sheathed stick electrodes, 2.4611 and 2.4839 for welding rods and wire electrodes. A preheating ought to be dispensed with intermediate layer temperature is 100 °C maximum lower intermediate layer temperatures can become necessary for sheathed stick electrodes). The alloy can be plasma-cut. The following is valid for the material according to DIN EN 10088-1 : 1995-08 : NiMo16Cr16Ti is used for corrosion-resistant construction components in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings. The alloy possesses low carbon, silicium and iron content and has a distinctly reduced tendency towards the formation of precipitations in the temperature range between 650 and 1040 °C in comparison to NiMo16Cr15W. As a result, the resistance to intercrystalline corrosion is improved. By that, no knife-line corrosion occurs in the heat affected zones of a welding seam, too. The material is marked by very good resistance to a wide field of corrosive mediums, especially under strongly oxidizing circumstances, as well as by excellent resistance to crevice, pitting and stress cracking corrosion. It is virtually insusceptible to chlorine-induced stress cracking corrosion in hot chlorid solutions, too, and it shows extrordinarily high resistance to polluted reducing mineral acids, chlorides and organic as well as inorganic chloride-polluted mediums. The material is applied in a wide field of the chemical process technology up to higher temperatures. Special applications are flue-gas desulphurization, e.g. absorber components, pickling bath generating in manufacturing companies, components in the acetic acid production and for the production of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Processing properties: Formability: good Weldability: good (Wbl: material specification Merkblatt: specification sheet)
