1) Remark: According to VdTÜV-Werkstoffblatt 400 : 2002-09, the material NiMo16CrW with the material number 2.4819 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt editions W 2 and W 10 faithfully to their meaning, for temperatures from -196 to 400 degrees. (For products of the company Inco Alloys International, Huntington, an application range from -196 bis 450 °C is valid). Furthermore, the material is used for ranges of applications in nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 196 to 400 °C (-196 bis 450 °C for products of the company Inco Alloys). With observance of the general principles for welding, the material is considered as approved for metal arc welding, MIG- and tungsten inert-gas welding (welding fillers: e.g. 2.4886, 2.4887). A preheating ought to be dispensed with. As a rule, a heat treatment after the welding is not necessary. Submerged-arc welding methods are not to be applied. The following is valid for the nickel-base alloy according to DIN 17744 : 2002-09 : the material is applied in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for corrosion-resistant construction components. The alloy distinguishes itself by a high resistance to crevice corrosion, pitting and stress cracking corrosion and shows good resistance to a multitude of corrosive mediums including strong oxidation agents, hot mediums, such as sulphuric, nitric, phosphoric acid, chlorine (dry), formic acid, acetic acid. Good behaviour of the material in moist chlorine gas, sodium hypochloride and chloride-oxide solutions. Application in the environmental technology, e.g. construction parts in waste incineration and flue-gas desulphurization plants (crude gas inlet sockets, support systems, absorbers, nozzle pipes, claddings and chimney linings), in the oil and gas extraction, e.g. conveying systems in contact with acid gas (suction lines, valves and fittings, probes) and in the chemical engineering, e.g. heat exchangers, valves and fittings, mixers, tube linings, in the wet and dry zone as well as in the cellulose industry, e.g. chlorine injection nozzles, bleaching water, pipelines.
