2.4858 (DIN 17744 : 2002-09) 2.4858 DIN 17744 : 2002-09 DIN 17744 : 2002-09 replaced by DIN 17744 : 2020-12 Replaced Germany NiCr21Mo -10 - 450 1)
1) Remark: According to the VdTÜV-Werkstoffblatt editions VdTÜV-Wbl 432-1 : 1999-06 (sheet metal, strip metal), VdTÜV-Wbl 432-2 : 1999-03 (seamless tube) and VdTÜV-Wbl 432-3 : 1999-06 (bar steel, forging) as well as VdTÜV 541 : 2001-06 (seamless compound pipes, coating material), the material NiCr21Mo with the material number 2.4858 is used for pressure vessels according to TRB 100 and, with interpreting the AD-Merkblatt W 2 faithfully to its meaning, for temperatures from -10 to 450 degrees. The highly corrosion-resistant nickel alloy is used in the nuclear engineering as far as the rules of nuclear engineering or the object-related specifications permit the use of - 10 to 450 °C. With observance of the generally acknowledged rules of technology, the suitability for welding of the nickel alloy is approved for metal-arc welding and gas-shielded arc welding (short arc). A heat treatment is not necessary, a preheating - except for the removal of condensed moisture - ought to be omitted. The maximum holding temperature is 200 °C. The material is cold- and hot-formable and, in accordance with DIN 50914, it is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion in the welded condition, too. The maximum eroding rate in the Huey-test is 0,6 mm/year (mean value of the 5 testing periods) in the as-delivered condition. The following is valid for the material according to DIN 17744 : 2002-09: the nickel alloy is applied in the form of strips, sheets, tubes, bars, wires and forgings for corrosion-resistant construction components. The alloy possesses very good resistance to reducing as well as to oxidizing acids, to stress cracking corrosion as well as to pitting and crevice corrosion. It has proven outstandingly worthwile in solutions of sulphuric and phosphoric acid. Applications for the chemical manufacturing technology, for plants for the prevention of air pollution, for tubes for the extraction of oil and gas, for the recycling of nuclear fuel assemblies, for the acid production for cellulose digesters in the paper industry as well as for pickling facilities. Processing properties: Formability: good Weldability: good (Werkstoffblatt/Wbl: material specification Merkblatt: specification sheet)
