Material Description

Material Number Standard Standard Status Country VDA 231-106 classification
G-ZnAl8Cu1 Zink-Taschenbuch, Zinkberatung e. V. 1981 Replaced Germany 3.3 1)
1) Remark: The material ZnAl8Cu1, a fine zinc block metal alloy acc. to ASTMB 669, german marking ZA 8, is the best alloy for casting with continuous form. It has the smallest strength, but best surface treatment characteristics opposite the marks ZnAl12Cu1 and ZnAl27Cu2. The alloy is outstanding pressure-tight, even in thin cross sections, excellently machinably and on high polish sharpening and polishingable. The alloy is used mainly for sand and ingot casting, in addition, for die casting on cold chamber machines. The alloy ZA 8 exhibits a clearly improved creep rupture behaviour in relation to the alloy Z 430 (G-ZnAl4Cu3).
