1) Remark: Sort EN-GJS-800-8, mat. No EN-JS1100 is a ferrous-carbon-based cast material that contains carbon predominantly in the form of spheroidal particles and that combines compared to the sort cast iron with nodular graphite (DIN EN 1563) higher strength and ductility properties by heat-treatment. Heat-treatment (austenite is transformed at a temperature between 250 and 400 °C in order to form a predominantly bainitic-ferritic structure) is an integral component of the production process. The material can be used for pressure equipment, e.g. compressor housings. The appropriate materials for pressure applications and the conditions of use are specified in special product standards or application standards. For the structuring of pressure equipment special construction guidelines applies.
