Applus+ Laboratories evaluates Newland SP880, one of the first payment terminals in China compliant with Discover® D-PAS Connect

Our pioneering Shanghai laboratory has become a point of reference for Chinese vendors looking to certify their products following brand new payment network specifications.

NPT (Fujian Newland Payment Technology Co., Ltd.), one of the largest POS suppliers in the world, trusted the Applus+ IT Lab in Shanghai to manage the type approval testing campaign for its new terminal, following the latest Discover® spec.

SP880 is a conventional countertop POS that uses EMV Chip & PIN technology and accepts contact, contactless and magnetic stripe cards. The payment terminal complies with the main payment schemes, including Discover® Global Network, to offer a convenient solution to be deployed at a global scale.

Following our time-to-market commitment, our experts in Shanghai efficiently tested the functionality and the interoperability of the NPT POS in a swift yet rigorous campaign. We remained in close contact with the vendor throughout.

“We’ve been collaborating closely with NPT for several years, and we are happy to partner with them in this project. In pioneering the latest Discover specs in China, we stay at the forefront of payment technology testing”, highlighted Josepmaria Roca, IT Area Director at Applus+ Laboratories.

“As two of the most influential companies in their respective industries, NPT and Applus+ Laboratories collaborated to make our SP880 one of the first Chinese payment terminals with this global-scale compliance. This achievement opens the door for SP880’s further expansion in the global market,” said Tony Wu, the General Assistant to GM of Tech Center at NPT, “and we are also very impressed by the great collaborating experience and the high-quality outputs by Applus+ Laboratories.”
