Guarantee the safety and trustworthiness of road equipment and access to the European market
Traffic management and control have become one of the main objectives of European city councils and public bodies. Simultaneously, work has been done on the standardization of road equipment such as traffic lights, variable message panels, traffic regulators, atmospheric variables sensors, or data-gathering stations to improve road safety.
Road equipment marketing in the UE is regulated by the Construction Products Regulation 305/2011, according to the assessment system 1 which involves, among other things, performance of type testing, on-site production controls, periodic inspections, and production monitoring. Manufacturers or their representatives are solely responsible for compliance of their products with the terms of the regulation. When a manufacturer identifies its products using the CE Mark, this indicates that it complies with and the harmonized standards and the essential requirements of the regulation.
