Applus+ Laboratories ready to test new 3.0 specification of EMV L1 for Contactless Terminals

Debugging sessions are now available for terminal vendors to prepare for new mandatory type approval testing in early 2019.
 
Applus+ Laboratories is ready to conduct terminal evaluation (QA) testing for the new EMV L1 3.0 test specifications for contactless devices. This allows clients and payment terminal manufacturers to prepare for EMV L1 PCD certification of their products, facilitating smooth passing of type approval when it becomes mandatory in early 2019. Interested clients can contact Applus+ and arrange for an evaluation of their contactless readers’ performance against the new EMV 3.0 test specification (both analog and digital).
 
  • Test cases are now tested using three different Proximity Integrated Circuit Cards (PICCs), instead of the single card used previously. These three PICCs all have different antenna design, resonance frequency and linear load values.
  • Waveform test cases are evaluated against these three PICCs, modifying the linear load.
  • Sensitive test cases are evaluated against these three PICCs with non-linear load.
Applus+ Laboratories has improved its test bench by eliminating electromagnetic noise, using a Faraday Chamber to obtain a clean measurement of the terminal signal.
 
In addition to this update, from 1 January 2019 EMVCo will require mandatory interoperability testing as part of EMV L1 PCD Type Approval. Applus+ Laboratories will also be equipped to carry out such interoperability testing as required.
