Developing new processes for continuous forming of stacks of new composite materials made from dry fibers in order to obtain complex preforms
The DRYFORMING R&D project is tasked with developing a new forming process based on the Applus+ proprietary technology A+ Glide Forming. This process will be applied to novel dry fiber composite materials with thermoplastic coating, to obtain preforms for manufacturing of complex stringers with joggles and double curvature through out of autoclave (OoA) processes. These new materials are under validation and represent one of the most promising innovations in out of autoclave manufacturing processes for aeronautical primary structure elements.
