APPLUS+ LABORATORIES: SETTING THE EUROPEAN STANDARD IN TUNNEL FIRE SAFETY TESTS
Our laboratory in Asturias, Spain, has a 600-metre-long testing tunnel that is comprehensively equipped to carry out full-scale fire tests
. This is the only facility of its kind in Europe, being able to test the effectiveness of both active and passive protection systems in real, large-scale fire scenarios.
We also run fire safety training courses for professionals whose work may involve safety or the management of an emergency in a tunnel or other confined space – from firefighters and mining brigades to infrastructure operators and transport professionals. Applus+ training courses contain both theoretical and practical modules, including hands-on experience in a tunnel with real fire.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE ON ROAD TUNNEL OPERATIONS AND SAFETY
The Conference on Road Tunnel Operations and Safety taking place in Lyon, France, is the first international conference to be devoted to this subject. It will comprise two days of technical workshops and round tables. The event has been organised by the World Road Association (PIARC)’s technical committee on tunnels, with the support of other bodies including the International Committee on Operational Safety of Underground Facilities (ITA COSUF), of which Applus+ is a member.
